- None of our animals are up for adoption - we are a lifetime care, no-kill sanctuary, accredited by the American Sanctuary Association
and regulated by USDA and Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission
- We are located on 90 acres of native land and have an highly qualified yet all-volunteer staff
- Most of our animals come to us, suffering from sickness related to improper care - our vet bills are tremendous (roughly $1,000 per
month)
- All animals are vaccinated once or twice a year and wormed once a month
- Many are undergoing constant therapy for arthritis related to having lived their "prior life" on concrete
- 18 of our animals are in need of sterilization surgery to allow them access to large, communal enclosures with others of their own kind -
without breeding
- All of our residents are permanent
- We have only had 2 deaths in our 4 years of operation - both were cougars with terminal conditions that could not be prevented.
- Roughly half of our animals are sponsored, but sponsorship only covers 1/10 the cost of their care.
- Animals taken in since last update - 15
- Unpaid bills - about $3,000 per month - always scrambling for more funding
- Our wish list is published on our web site

Last update: 11-26-98
Our center accepts all species except cats and dogs (native, exotic and domestic species).
We hold all necessary state and federal licenses and handle over 11,000 patients each year. (We will transfer primates and large carnivores to other facilities due to licensing and facility restrictions.)
We maintain a full service hospital with a full time veterinary staff, and full time animal care staff, plus volunteer base of over 200. We serve Dade, Broward, and Palm Beach counties.
Adoption data: Number and species varies week to week. We do not necessarily advocate the keeping of all "alternative species", and we require home checks for all adoptions. We are primarily a wildlife rehabilitation hospital and we can not treat "owned" animals.
